Cockpit

• Stem bolts torque correct (to steerer and bars)

• Grips not badly worn
• Bar plugs fitted

Saddle

• Check for wear/damage
• Bolt torque at rails and seat post collar
• Check seat post moves
• Headset bearings good condition and no play

Brakes – Vee/cantilever/road

• Brakes bite and stop evenly (front/back)
• No excessive noise
• Blocks - check for wear
• Blocks - tight in arms
• Blocks - set up correctly
• Arms pull and retract equally and do not rub
• Cables run smoothly
• Check noodle sits in arm cage safely

Drivetrain

Suspension

Choosing the correct size

Almost all tires have the size written on them. Have a look on the side of your tire to check. You are looking for two numbers with an “x” in the middle.

eg. 27.5 x 2.35

If you have a city or touring bike, there will often be the letter “C” after one of the numbers.
